This world-class event moved to a world-class brand new stadium in 2025 and pyjama were called in to assist with a brand new problem needing a solution.
With CASTORE as the new kit sponsor & partner the expected enthusiasm for merchandise was anticipated to exceed even the new stadium's capacity, alongside a desire for the purchase experience to mirror the premier spectator environment.
With the Hong Kong China Rugby organising team already stretched to the max in their new unfamiliar surroundings, pyjama was onboarded to deliver a complete merchandise operations solution. This needed to be accomplished despite a tight budget, limited time, and the Castore team operating eight hours behind from the UK.
We proposed a main walk-in retail experience in a large marquee (ours of course) in the Fan Zone next to the stadium with a supplemental store at the venue's main entrance. With no budget for a professional production crew, our tent construction team set about to make signage, window stickers, lighting and flooring for the newly laid, uneven grass surface of the venue. We designed and sourced from China everything from tailor made clothing rails, coathangers and cashier booths to a huge welcome mat, mannequins and lightboxes.
Ensuring smooth tournament operations involved several key tasks: managing the huge amount of product arriving just in time for the tournament, POS systems for processing a high volume of transactions and friendly, dedicated staff for long hours of manning tills and restocking shelves.
The icing on the cake for us was Coldplay a few weeks later, the first big international band to play at the stadium, asked us to leave the marquee in place for them for their merch tent.
